"An excellent memoir that really captures life in the Polish Underground during WWII. Polish military history, especially during WWII is my favorite, and this book was just perfect for that."
"Jan Karski was a Polish patriot and freedom fighter who deserves to be much more widely known in his adopted country of the US. A diplomat during the late 1930s, he undertook a number of dangerous missions in German-occupied Poland and was the first to alert the Allies to what was going on in the Warsaw ghetto and Nazi concentration camps. This book recounts his experiences as a courier for the Polish underground. Karski, unable to return to Poland after World War II, eventually became an American citizen and taught international affairs at Georgetown University. For his efforts on behalf of Polish Jews, he was made an honorary citizen of Israel in 1994."
