About this title: In Heinlein's second juvenile space adventure, he recasts his own experiences at military school in science fictional terms as he tells the story of two young men who undergo a tortuous series of exams before qualifying to travel to Venus as junior officers.

Good story. I felt it is a less studious more character driven rehash of Starship Troopers. The fact that more characters had time to converse and banter was a plus. The social convo and military dogma was lessened.
"Takes a young man from the beginning of the Space Academy for the first year or so. Training and testing determines if he can follow through, work hard and mature into someone who has the right mentality for the Solar Patrol. Not as flashy a book as one written today with the same theme but I enjoyed it."
