"this book is amazing. i love it. i don't care what anyone else says about it. it interested me. i say that the second part is way better than the first part but still amazing. i loved the characters and i just got into the book a lot. i felt like i was actually in the book. amazing piece of work. loved it!"
"I think that this book was really well written, and so far, one of my favourite by Sarah Dessen, because the character 'revelations' felt the most real out of all of her works. Halley and Scarlett are best friends. Scarlett is outgoing and brave, Halley, tame and quiet, is good friends with her mother, who writes novels about parenting and having a relationship with your teen. Then, one summer, the balence shifts. Scarlett and Halley start hanging out with new people, and Halley drifts away from her mother. Scarlett begins to see a new boy, Michael, in secret, and falls in love. However, tragedy strikes when Michael is killed in a car accident, and Scarlett is left alone..... but with his baby. As Scarlett and Halley are trying to deal with this new obstacle, Halley is finding herself attracted to the dangerous Macon, a boy with a reputation a mile wide that presents a threat to her innocence. This book is one about choices, and about finding yourself. I think that it paints a good picture of the struggles of teenage life, as well as the difficulty of being a pregnent teen, and having to make the life altering decision of abortion, adoption, or being a young mother."
"Someone Like You is about how two very close friends, Scarlett and Halley have their ups and down when Scarlett meets a younng bad boy named Micheal who was soon killed ina motercycle accident after Scarlett had broke up with him. Soon after, she discovers she is carrying his baby. When she decides to keep it, suffering through anguish and mourning, Halley tries to help out her best friend through a crisis that will never be forgetten and a friendship that will never be broken.
During the reading of this book, i made a text-to-self connection. My best friend Allison has always been there with me, even since second grade and we had followed eachother through our own crisises and our own little secrets of dying hope just like Halley and Scarlett. We cry on eachother's shoulders and that will never end. Reading Someone Like You was like a flash back of how Allison and I bonded together, even now that she lives in New Jersey, we share our love through any kind of connection just as Halley and Scarlett. Friendship like that is hard to find.
I rate this book five beaming stars because of the wonder literature Sarah Dessen used. Sarah Dessen never fails to write up a book that can make you weep, laugh and squeeze your heart with every chapter that your eyes read. This book is rawly true and amazingly, it ripped my heart out. I would reccomend this book to someone who doesnt like the happy endings but likes the endings that have comfort and satisfy you with a butt kicking last sentence."
"Honestly, this book is something you should go into saying "I'll do the exact opposite". There is a major theme of friendship in this novel, but I don't believe search dissent had to use teen pregnancy to make her point that friends stick together. Don't get me wrong, this book was well written and I enjoyed reading it for entertainment, but I feel Dessen's other books had a stronger foundation. Someone like you is about two girls, Halley and Scarlett that like near each other, one is popular the other one isn't. They've been friends for years and share everything with each other. Scarlett gets pregnant but the Childs father dies in a motorcycle accident. It really is quite the story line. My favorite aspect of the book is that Halley is there to look over Scarlett when she is ridiculed for her predicament. I recommend this book if you are looking to just read a book. Not if you want to read something educational. This I would assume could happen in a suburb but either way Happy reading :)
And remember, Friends are there for you in sickness or in Health."
