"The first half of the book progressed slowly and I admit that I was less than fond of the characters. However, once Emerson's capture, I really started to enjoy it and finished the last half within twelve hours, as opposed to the few days it took me to read the first half.
I really must read the rest of the books. I find I don't wish to read the former, since once you drop in in the middle it is hard to go back. I may read the first one, just for kicks."
"Amelia and Emerson are hip deep in trouble, again. A fine read filled with action and "romance." And leaving Ramses at home with the gaps filled in with letters was a nice touch."
"This book is a great mystery, with a strong female protagonist. Amelia Peabody is an archeologist who digs in Egypt alongside her husband and who faces danger and calamities with her parasol (her secret weapon) in hand. The plot takes surprising turns on almost every page. Like my friend who recommended Elizabeth Peters, I may read every Amelia Peabody mystery that Peters has written."
