"Tough to get through, probably because it is a translation.
It was also written in 1700s so this might've made it difficult to translated to modern English.
I enjoyed some of his ideas about abandonment to God in the present moment, but not super excited about some of his ideas on how that is done through passivity."
"Another book in my effort to nurture a contemplative approach to life. This books drives home the value/power of recognizing the present moment as the perfect will of God for this moment. This has the effect of deeping appreciation in me for the present moment and helps me see God here, not just in a wishful other place and time."
"Ah, that I would practice what I learned from this book: living in the present moment! This is an old text, written 2 centuries ago, and as timely as today. Jean-Pierre, a Jesuit, didn't actually write this book. It is comprised of notes taken by convents of Carmelite nuns who took notes of his retreats. I rather like the collective spirit of the result."
