"I like this tender book that has been a favorite of mothers and their children for a very long time. The compassionate writing style of Margaret Wise Brown is the real deal. The tone of The Runaway Bunny is light and sweet, with the soft touch that always so subtly accompanies her books. Such a simple narrative has been a symbol of long-suffering love for generations, and I think it is a good thing. I would give one and a half stars to this book, most likely."
"I can't stand this book. The runaway bunny's mom is a stalker!
Also, every other page is black-and-white and not very interesting, so my baby is only interested in the colored pages, but there is no writing on the colored pages, so I am constantly making up lame reasons why the bunny is pretending to be a fish or a rock.
I really don't understand why this is a classic. I find it creepy."
"Um, I'm sorry, but this book was really creepy. My parents started reading it to me when I was little, but they stopped in the middle and read me another book instead. Later on, I read it on my own, and I now understand why. Long story short? An eerily possessive and overbearing rabbit mother chases her poor child from one corner of the earth to the other.
WHAT IS WITH THIS ERA OF CREEPY PICTURE BOOKS FOR LITTLE CHILDREN???"
"This is a story about a little bunny who wants to run away, and his mother who tells him she would run after him and find him. The little bunny comes up with more scenarios of what he will do and the mother counters them with how she would still be there some how. I guess in a way it's cute because the mother is reassuring the child that she will always be there, but in a way I feel like the little bunny is trying to push at the boundaries that have been created and the mother is smothering the little bunny. I have some mixed feelings about this book ;op"
