About this title: An adaptation of a Native American folktale that explains why cranes have long legs and red head-dresses. Rabbit has always wanted to visit the moon, but try as he might, he just can't jump high enough. Crane agrees to fly Rabbit to the moon by letting Rabbit hold onto his legs, but this stretches Crane's legs and bloodies Rabbit's paws. When they reach the moon, Rabbit thanks Crane by patting him on the head with his bloody paw, and Cranes sees that his legs have been permanently stretched. Illustrated with watercolor paintings.
