About this title: Dr. Kay Scarpetta's search for a serial killer takes two steps backwards for every one step forward: Someone is destroying the few clues she has to track down the ruthless killer.
Note: This is a general synopsis. Each listing is described below.
"The ending was a little abrupt, and there was a lot of, in my opinion, unnecessary computer talk. But I thought this was a great murder mystery. I read it in one day, which is very fast for me. I definitely plan on checking out the rest of the series.
Side note: This book was published back in 1990. So the computer talk is way out dated. Which I think is why I found that part kind of boring. Two entire pages devoted to talking about DOS commands? Snore. Seriously though, that was the only part I found boring."
"This is a great read! The serial killer has enough twists to keep anyone interested and Kay Scarpetta is a compelling character. The forensic details are fascinating as are the twists of the serial killer's mind. This is the first book I read in the series and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I only wish that she had kept on in the same manner instead of letting her repeating characters become so bizarre."
"I am a bookworm I guess you could say. Patricia Cornwell writes books that keep you guessing, and interested. I can usually sit and read one in one sitting. I work in the medical field and these books are right down my alley. I have all of her books in this series and hope there are more to come."
"I was expecting so much more from this book because of the awards it received and all of the good reviews. I am really disappointed about it.
I felt like there was really no character development and the bad guy was never even mentioned before. He was just some guy.
I like to follow along and get into the head of the murderer and the the lead character. I like to at least get an idea of how or why the person committed these heinous crimes. You definitely did not get it with this book.
I've got a few more books in this series and I am going to give it a couple of more tries. Hopefully, the series will get better, but right now I'm thinking it won't...:o("
