"I love this. Avalon is a beautiful story about searching for the unknown while finding yourself along the way (at least that's how I saw it). I love the time period it was set in: ancient history in modern eyes. Old England, the mountains of Iceland, the 'founding' of Greenland, King Edgar, Leif Erickson - all the best. The only part I didn't like was how Merewyn and Rumon didn't end up together in the end. After spending the entire book rooting for them, the letdown disappointed me way too much. 5 outta 5."
"I first read this book as a youngling, and loved it then. Avalon qas one of the first books I read that gave a fairly accurate depiction of early medieval times. I found a copy in a used bookstore, and had to re-read it. I was able to pick up most of her books for a song, so will re-read those also"
"Anya Seton was one of my favorite authors in my teens and early twenties. Her books were atmospheric, and she seemed to bring the time (usually middle ages, but also early sixteen hundreds) to fully into fruition that you are litterally transported. You become unaware of the act of reading, and instead you are experiencing the story. She made it hard to get my reading done for school!"
