"I bought a used edition from the 80's, so the styles they showed weren't exactly up to date (although some have come back into style already) but that doesn't matter that much because this book shows you how to design about anything you would want. I just finished my basic pattern today, and it really makes that process as easy as possible. Then you are taken step by step through all of the different ways to manipulate patterns going from easy to very advanced, but in a way that helps you build on each skill into the next. There is a chapter about working with knits and activewear (swim suits and dance wear) which is nice. Tops, dresses, skirts, pants, and activewear are all covered. It is fun now to look at most articles of clothing and be able to see exactly how they made it. Definitely worth the money, and in my opinion, an old edition that is cheaper is a great value."
