About this title: Describes the genesis, ratification and mandate of the US Constitution from the perspective of its original framers. Bradford employs principles of legal, historical, rhetorical and dramatic analysis to reveal a Constitution which, he claims, limits the power of its government.

"This is a set of essays from an old academic about the states' ratifications of the Constitution. Bradford is a Burke-Kirk conservative, and a terrifically informed one at that. One best approaches this book already familiar with Madison's notes, the Federalist and anti-Federalist papers. And probably other stuff that I'm not familiar with; but this is my second crack at the book, and only after concluding the little reading list above have I been able to digest and enjoy it.
Bradford makes a good case for the notion that we've veered so far off the Founders' intended course for America that they would not recognize the country we attribute to them."
