You can get so confused that you'll start in to race down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space, headed, I fear, toward a most useless place. The Waiting Place...
...for people just waiting. Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or a No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.
Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting.
NO! That's not for you!
Somehow you'll escape all that waiting and staying. You'll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing."
"There are the books you remember reading, then there are the books that fade away in the memory never to be heard from again. But despite the time that has past since I last read this book, I cannot deny that I remember large portions of the catchy phrasing, the poetic, truthful lines about all these places you will supposedly go. I know one thing for certain it's a book I'll be reading to my children, I was never read Dr. Seuss but it seems like such a thing that everyone almost everyone needs nowadays.
So with that in mind, no matter what age, I recomend this book greatly, each and every page.
"Oh, the Places You'll Go! is, of course, the stand-by resource for nearly every graduation speech ever given in the history of mankind. As such, it can often be reviewed as cliche, but I think that there's obviously a reason people keep coming back to it! I love it because it's a happy book that gives people hope. It tells us that we can, indeed, achieve whatever we set our minds to. And no, things won't always work out perfect, but that's okay. Hard times make us stronger, and we can work through them and come out triumphant. Plus, the whimsy and charm of Dr. Seuss is always a good pick-me-up for a rainy day."
