"I love these! I follow a lot of medieval mysteries, so I sometimes get confused as to which series I'm in, but I really enjoy delving into a convent every now and then."
"I'm besides myself on this one. I *really* liked Margaret Frazer's Joliffe series, and since that's a very similar concept to the Sister Frevisse stuff, I figured I'd love this. But I didn't. I'm going to read a few more of the series and see how they go - I'm of a mind that this one felt a little off to me because it was one of the first, whereas the Joliffe series is after she's really rolling and on her A game.
I think what I liked least about this book was that it took place completely in the convent. That's cool and I totally get that since the main character is a nun and the title was "The Novice's Tale" that there will be some heavy convent/cloister action, but I'm worried that everything in the series will be behind the nunnery walls. I was so excited when ANY character appeared who wasn't on her way to pray four times a day.
So...a low rating for this one, but we'll see how the others go..."
