"THIS BOOK IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE LOVE STORIES AND EACH TIME I READ IT(YES I HAVE READ IT MORE THEN ONCE) IT MAKES ME CRY AT THE END BECAUSE IT IS SUCH A HAPPY LOVE STORY. THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ALL SPARKS FANS."
"An amazing love story. Sparks excels in the too-good-to-be-true genre. The book, in my opinion, was much better than the movie. Although the movie was good as well."
"Nicholas Sparks' books tend to sound the same after a while, i'm sorry to say. But that wasn't the case with The Notebook, at all. Such an amazing story, I felt like crying tears of joy. Watching the movie first helps, though. The movie was beautiful. It helps paint a picture in your mind while reading and makes it all the better."
"Spoiler alert... One night, browsing tv for something reasonable to watch, we happened upon THE NOTEBOOK. I loved the setting, the characters, the unfolding story, and the structure; I was really enjoying it; Rick--worn out--went to bed. At the point when Allie--having remembered and begun dancing with Noah--loses it once more and begins to scream, I started crying, all by myself in a dark room with a tv, and I cried through the rest of the movie. When I saw THE NOTEBOOK in a thrift shop, I had to pick it up. I don't know if I'm falling into a schmaltz trap or what, but the book is a beautiful thing. The structure is different, but I think even better than the movie's, and the story and characters are still heart-wrenching. There is a lovely grace note at the end--but not the same one as in the movie. The only reason this book isn't getting 5 stars is that I like to reserve those for books I think really may be "great," with all that that entails. However, if you've ever loved someone with all your heart; if you're human and therefore eventually will die; if you can feel the depth of emotions of others, this is a book for you."
