"This is a classic historical novel that falls into the "can't-put-it-down" category. I've never seen the movie, but I can't see how it could ever be as good as the book. The story is told through the eyes of Roger Byam, a sailor on the Bounty, and tells of the sufferings of the crew of the Bounty at the hands of Captn Bligh ultimately leading to mutiny. The fate of Byam and the rest of the crew is captivatingly described in this excellent tale. The story is based on the actual history of the english ship, the Bounty in the late 1780s. I highly recommend it."
"A well-written novelization of the actual mutiny. I found the details about ship life in that bygone era to be fascinating, much as I did with Moby Dick. The descriptions of Tahiti and the people who inhabited it were also quite interesting. Aside from the historical insights, the story offers plenty of drama, action, and suspense. I could picture myself reading this again someday."
"I read this several summers ago and loved it. It was neat to go back into that time and feel what the sailors felt. What a story. I want to read it again."
