"While this book is definitely interesting and has a lot of interesting criticism of western civilization in comparison to non-western, primarily African civilization, i found it hard to get engaged."
"Got hipped to Ishmael Reed by a weird, 4th wall-breaking aside in Gravity's Rainbow, and glad for it. This is one wacked-out allegory, full of insane anachronisms, wildly poetic prose that is a joy to read, and raunchy cartoonish humor, skewering every American myth on race, religion, and history. Reminded me a bit of Robert Downey's film Greaser's Palace, another work that redefines "Revisionist Western." Will be checking out more of Reed's stuff soon."
