About this title: Steve Harmon is a 16-year-old who has been accused of being an accomplice in the murder of a convenience-store owner in Harlem. "Steve Harmon is a 16 year old boy, he is stuck in prison right now for perhaps being an accomplice in this robbery. The robbery was about these two men, who robbed a drug store, stole money and cigarettes, and then accidentally killed the owner. They hold a trial and try to prove who is guilty and innocent. The whole scene and setting of the book is in this one trial room.
I can connect this book to any person living in jail. Because it is painful knowing that you are locked up for what seems eternity and not allowed to be free until you filled your term. Which could be an extremely long time. Steve felt the same way, because he was stuck in that "hole" basically and he felt the pain and yearning to be free.
I would rate this book 5 stars, because it really allowed you to be in the point of view of how the person feels being in jail. They explain it in a painful and crushing way, of being watched 24/7 and locked up. It also allowed you to pity Steve for being in this situation, just at the wrong place at the wrong time."
""Monster" is a good book. The thing that makes it such a good book is that it's not fiction, because young men of all races experience things that sixteen year old Steve Harmon experienced. Steve Harmon is a black male that is growing up on the streets of Harlem. Bobo, Steve, James King, and Osvaldo broke into a store owner named Alguinaldo Nesbitt's drugstore. Mr. Nesbitt had a licensed gun to protect himself and his employee at his drugstore. When the boys had broken into the store Mr. Nesbitt brought his gun out to protect him, but while wrestling with James King James ended up firing the gun murdering Mr. Nesbitt. Bobo was arrested by an investigator while selling him some drugs. Steve was arrested in front of his mother while at home. His mom didn't know what and why Steve was arrested. Steve's parents and him believe that he was innocent and didn't believe that he should've been arrested. Steve didn't like prison at all, because all they did was fight and talk about what they could've done while they were on trial. During his trial Steve would take notes and show them to his attorney O'Brien. In end Steve and his attorney O'Brien had convinced the jury that he was innocent and was free to go home with his parents. James was sentenced to 25 years to life, Osvaldo was arrested for stealing a car and sent to a reformatory, and all Steve knows is that Bobo is still in jail. The thing that Steve's father didn't understand was how Steve ended up meeting those boys."
"This guy should not write the book in movie script format. It is WAYYYYY too complicated. He should also not write it in green font (good thing he didn't)."
"This book was very well writen and i liked reading it. It was about a sixteen year old teen that was sent to jail for commiting a crime he didn't do. He was involved in a fatal shoting in a robbery of a drug store. He was sent to jail for being a lookout for the robbery. In jail he was always lonely and sad. He had to have many trails in court with one of the robbers. DID HE DO IT! or did he not."
