You need to have an interest in WW2, but if you do this is a must read. The history of U Boat strategy provided is very interesting in its self but the background and decision making by Doenitz after been made leader is fascinating, even more so as he lost 2 sons in the war. Highly recommended.
Stiff, stuffy, and monotonous. Doenitz was impressed with only himself and The Cause, and the book does nothing more than attempt to prove that he was RIGHT while everyone else was WRONG, and that he could have won the war had he been given the tools he needed from Hitler (e.g., more U-boats).
