Created from documents found in the Royal Library in Berlin no other sources name Herr Dietz, who therefore has no existence other than this book. Surviving the plague in childhood he saw service as an army surgeon in two campaigns, the first against the Turks besieging Budapest, and the second in the service of the King of Denmark. He later made two trips to the Arctic on Whaling ships before retiring with a royal warrant. UL-131204. 221pp ills.
