"Before I read this book, I did not know if I could continue working. Most days I would have periods of time when I would be dizzy and unable to think clearly. I'm a bookseller. I usually am able to pull book titles and authors out of my head quicker then most, and then be able to tell you about the book. My ability to do this was gone. Usually I would have to look up an author, but then I would forget who the author was by the time I got to the shelf. I hadn't read a book in months because I couldn't concentrate long enough to finish a paragraph. The other books on hypoglycemia don't lay out a diet as clearly as this one does. I needed someone to tell me what to eat and when. This book does exactly that, and I am so very thankful! I am so much better now. I'm reading. I'm a better employee. All and all, I enjoy life again."
"This book is depressing and probably alarmist. As someone who enjoys cooking, especially baking, the idea of eating sugarless anything - even avoiding caramelizing food's natural sugars, is a huge downer without needing to be.
This is pretty dated also and while I assume this might be helpful to some people, it assumes that all hypoglycemics have the same degree of low blood sugar. Discuss with a medical professional and/or nutritionist to figure out how strict you need to adhere to a low sugar diet and for how long."
"this was very helpful in a) realizing that a seemingly odd mixture of symptoms are in fact well known, linked together, and experienced by many who suffer from hypoglycemia, and b) getting more/new ideas on how to prevent sugar lows and all that come with it."
