About this title: After developing a special camera, a physicist soon finds the invention taken out of his hands by a government determined to use the device to effectively eliminate personal privacy in the name of "security." Before people forget the notion of freedom completely, he desperately tries to adapt the device to allow "sight" into the past, but with an asteroid hurtling towards the planet, it might all be nothing more than an intellectual exercise.

"The premise of the book is fascinating, but clarke has this tendency to take an idea and go overboard with it. he goes off into minutiae-land and starts to lose my interest! Setting that aside, the idea (in this book is) that, if everyone in society can observe everyone else at any given time, that's pretty scary to think about. It's also interesting to see how the different factions of society deal with the ensuing total lack of privacy. I dunno, this is like big brother gone wild on steroids! DEFinitely worth reading. ol Art, he sure was a brain, that guy..."
"The WormCam is both a delight and a menace with its ability to make spies and voyeurs of its users across great swaths of space - and then of time. It's a mind-boggling and just a bit wearying ...
SciFi writers sometimes go off the deep end, pushing us back to the beginning of life or, more commonly, to the culmination of it all. These guys do it fairly well, but I still find it a bit oppressing."
"Though I mostly read softer fare and fantasy, I've always loved Arthur C. Clarke. "The Light of Other Days" shows again why - Thoughtful, provocative, insightful and fast-paced. In alignment with the genre, this novel follows the broad spectrum reaction to a single chain of technological advances and how they affect those who wrought them and the society in general. As such the central story line is a bit fragmented as they authors (Clarke and Baxter) follow the many tendrils of change and reaction to the creation of the 'Worm-Cam' an advance that allows the creation of remote viewer cameras anywhere in the world. Privacy disappears, secrets are exposed. The premise could have yielded a much longer book, but the authors keep it spare and fast. And wonderfully written."
"A decent concept, but i don't like books were the main character is the event not the people. I.E. this books was more about a new piece of technology and how it would impact the world than about the people."
