Description: Very Good in Very Good jacket. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. A thriller by the Irish-born writer that Graham Greene called his "favorite living novelist. " This gripping story gets going when two gunmen hold Michael Dillon's wife at gunpoint and threaten to kill her unless he does exactly what they tell him to do. "shows decent plot lines and well drawn moral dilemmas, but awfully cardboard characters and a frustrating pacing ruined what could have been an interesting read. moore is not a thriller writer and it shows, especially through the pacing, however this book contains atmospheric scenes and is quite a good portrayal of the mood of the ordinary people in ulster, but in the end the characterization lets moore down."
"Was forced to read it for school, the writing was terrible, the characters were boring, and the pace was annoying. Didn't honestly care what happened at the end, and I was right- since the end was terrible.
