"As always, Wodehouse leaves me cozily and hilariously satisfied. This book was perhaps not the best of Wodehouse's, as the plot didn't tie itself up too well at the end, but oh! still, what a book!
It is unfortunate that Wodehouse is now gone, I would have liked to send him a fan letter."
"Bless P.G. Wodehouse for giving me something so sparkling and delightful that I laughed and laughed out loud! He is a genius! Next time I am in a blue funk, I will be reading one of his books. Probably next week!"
"Wodehouse at his best--quirky, larger-than-life characters, half a dozen twists and turns, shocking facts revealed in the last sentence of a paragraph.
But one doesn't read Wodehouse for suspense. One reads Wodehouse because he is tremendously witty. And in Leave it to Psmith, he is at the top of his game.
The plot is hardly important but it is one that might be instantly recognized as similar to the one presented in The Code of the Woosters, or almost identical to the one presented in The Plot that Thickened, which is also about a household full of loonies all trying to steal a necklace in order to settle debts, secure the hand of a woman, etc.
Formulaic settings aside, this book is a joy to read. I recommend it highly."
"Despite an overlong exposition, once the stage is set, the comedy and high jinks never let up. The plot takes more twists and turns and is more intricate than any Wodehouse story I've read yet, and the dialogue given to Psmith is nearly the funniest and most endearing I've encountered in literature.
Sacrilegious, I know, but I may have enjoyed it more than, "The Code of the Woosters.""
