"Can you give a negative rating?....... I bought this book because I like the supernatural, magicky (not a word), type of world but I read about 40 pages (hoping it would get better) and threw it away. I can't believe this is a YA book, it is fairly violent right from the beginning. The main character is self-absorbed (which in itself not so bad), kills and has killed numerous people for any reason she feels necessary, too much seducing from the get go. Basically no real sense of right and wrong, and the plot and characters move too quickly with not enough development between them. How can you read a book when you hate the main character?"
"More like 2 1/2 stars. Sita the 5000 year-old vampire goes to high school and meets Roy, the (possibly?) re-incarnated love of her life.
Four stars for the story line -- very interesting ties to Hindu-ism and a kickass, all powerful heroine -- but two stars for the writing style, which is entirely too simplistic to keep my attention. I hate when authors 'dumb it down' for teen audiences. Also, I'm pretty sure that after 5000 years, Sita would have learned to use contractions."

It's a total can't sleep it's 3am and I can't concentrate on anything that really demands that much of my conciousness and vampires are cool kind of read."
"Read this book years ago when it first came out and was absolutely struck by how it explored the vampire mythos in a different manner. I was especially struck by Pike's use of Indian mythology. In addition the main character of Sita/Alisa is by no means perfect...even after 5000 years which makes it fun for us readers to go along the ride."
