"I read this book during lazy summer days during college. I thought then how wonderful a book it was, even though I was quite naive about campaigns and politics. Another of my "have to read agains"!"
"I finally finished this and I sort of don't see what all the fuss was about. I wish it had actually been set in Boston, rather than a fictionalized bland city--it's weird to read about this hugely charismatic person who had this city in the palm of his hand... but have the city be Generictown USA. I also didn't find that the Skeffington character threw any additional light on what I already knew about James Michael Curley: he was charismatic, he worked his roots, he knew his neighborhoods."
