"Isabella Bird was an Englishwoman who traveled alone all over wild places in the late 1800's. This book is a collection of letters home from a sojourn of several weeks during fall and winter in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Her activities and the things she saw are amazing--riding miles in the snow by herself through canyons with verbal directions passed along at the last stop. But her writing gets repetitive and overblown with adjectives upon adjectives describing the sublimity of the scenery."
"This book was intersting as to how difficult it truly was living in the Rockies of Colorado. She was a brave lady to travel around by herself and stay with people all over the area to get to know them. Life was hard but she enjoyed it."
