"feyerabend was an iconoclastic philosopher and this memoir really cuts to the heart of a lot of interesting philosophical conundrums via the story of his life."
"My favorite anti-philosopher, the archetypal skeptic of the 20th century. His autobiography is a lark, chock full of intellectual passion and high spirits."
"I'm not a scientist or a philosopher and wasn't sure that I'd be able to get into this, that it would be over my head or just boring, but this autobiography is almost totally digestible by laypersons. Feyerabend writing style is unlike anyone else's. He writes unrelated sentences in the same paragraph, which is disconcerting at first but you get used to it. The academic segments are mostly understandable, and it's fascinating to read about his non-scientific pursuits and experiences: he served in the German army during WWII and his thoughts on this part of his life alone make this book worth reading. He also studied singing seriously and considered a career as an opera singer (but never learned to read music!) and was an avid theater-goer. He also writes about his early childhood, family and personal life in an honest and unsentimental way. This document of the mid-twentieth century from Feyerabend's unique perspective is not like any other autobiography I've encountered."
