"John Connolly successfully marries suspense with supernatural for spine-tingling stories. One of the best authors at developing characters. Not for the easily spooked!"
"I loved this! I picked it up not knowing it was actually the third in the series. While references were made to what had happened previously, I never felt lost. I thought it was extremely well written and a very clever genre mash-up. I never expected a P.I. murder mystery thriller to be so eloquently put together, for the bad guy to be so truly creepy, for the subtle supernatural slides to be so effortless--for both the development of the character and for my cynical imagination. What more could a girl want? With this one, you've got a well-rounded protagonist, a fantastic supporting crew, an intriguing mystery, and themes that go beyond good and evil to a place that really makes you think! I am definitely reading more in this series!"
Real good. The story has gone more occult and is done well. The villians in this book are downright creepy enough to make the typical horror reader shiver. The story flows well and there is only a couple of spots where I felt that more was needed for what happened to certain characters. This in no way lessens the book just took me out just enough later to notice and wonder what happened.
Dark. Great Villians. Good pacing. All good signs."
