About this title: Two-thirds of Americans polled by the Associated Press agree with the following statement: 'An animal's right to live free of suffering should be just as important as a person's right to live free of suffering'. But these same Americans eat hamburgers, take their children to circuses and rodeos, and use products developed with animal testing. How do we justify our inconsistency? "If you're interested in veganism/animal rights, skip Peter Singer's Animal Liberation (or use it to line your birdcage, whatever you prefer) and read this instead."
"I was fortunate to have Gary Francione as a professor in law school. This book was my first introduction to animal rights, and is very accessible to those (like me) with little background or exposure to the subject. It is almost impossible to listen to him and read his books without adopting a vegan lifestyle; however, I am ashamed to say I am very weak and love cheeseburgers too much to give them up."
"I loved the "20 Questions/Answers" in the back of the book. Instead of that animal-welfare bulls**t, he argues for abolition. Laying out how the arguments for animal welfare don't make any sense, he does an excellent job describing why continuation of treating animals as property (an object) will never work. Very well articulated and logically written. I highly recommend this book for all animal rights advocates/activists."
