"Grade level: Pre-K to 1st Grade Bond's illustrations take the child on an imaginative journey through a day with an exasperating little mouse. Her use of bright colors and detailed fine lines emphasize the colossal task of offering a mouse a snack, and the trials and tribulations that go along with making such a decision. Numeroff's text offers the predictability and repetition that a beginner needs to feel confident about learning to read. Students will enjoy following this little mouse and his ever-so-gracious "host" through an afternoon of messes and delights. Related Content Areas: Language Arts, Science Lesson Idea: Students will use high-frequency words from the story to create their own sentences at a literacy center."
"This is my favorite book of all time. I first read it as a child and i read it some much that i can quote it by heart. I still have my book from when i was little and it's on my bookshelve to this day. This is the cutest book ever. I love how the story goes on because you keep giving the mouse something and he wants something to go with it. The story goes on and ends up starting rigth back where you started. I love it to death. i recommend this book to everyone. especially moms who want a great book to read to there kids. Im in college and still love this book."
"Summary: Who would ever suspect that a tiny little mouse could wear out an energetic young boy? Well, if you're going to go around giving an exuberantly bossy rodent a cookie, you'd best be prepared to do one or two more favors for it before your day is through. For example, he'll certainly need a glass of milk to wash down that cookie, won't he? And you can't expect him to drink the milk without a straw, can you? By the time our hero is finished granting all the mouse's very urgent requests--and cleaning up after him--it's no wonder his head is becoming a bit heavy. Laura Joffe Numeroff's tale of warped logic is a sure-fire winner in the giggle-generator category. But concerned parents can rest assured, there's even a little education thrown in for good measure: underneath the folly rest valuable lessons about cause and effect.

"While I read this as a child, I decided to re-read it again as my wife has not read any of the quintessential childrens books.
As an adult reading this book to an adult, there are a few things to note: (SPOILER ALERT) 1) Mice are messy 2) Apparently, kids will clean up after the messes that mice leave 3) Mice are much better at drawing pictures than children 4) Stranger Danger doesn't extend into the word of critters
