My reivew of this book is that I liked it, but it was not amazing. I would recomend this book to any readers who are 11-14 and like a good adventure. This book was about a kid named David who escapes from a concentration camp in Eastern Germany and has an adventure. In his adventure he met many people along the way, like the sailor on the ship, Maria and her family, the priest, the girl painter, and the farmer and his family. Two of the people were very nice to David. They were Maria and the farmers dog and they were the nicest people/animals to him. The book has a very good ending and keeps you wanting to read. In this story I learned many things about how bad people were treated in the concentration camps and how little they had to live off of. It made me appriciate how good my life was compared to them. Also, I learned that people will do anything for freedom and that freedom is a gift that the United States has earned and fought for. Many other countries don't have freedom and that is why living in the United States is privlidge to us becaus ewe have protection and people whop help us unlike David did. This is my review of the book I AM DAIVD."
"A very wonderful book. My husband even likes it and when he finishes it he is going to pass it along to one of his coworkers so that he and his wife can read it. Since it is written for children I am interested to see what Joshua thinks of it. I recently read "The Book Thief" so I was worried it was going to be too much World War II but it wasn't. The movie is supposed to be pretty good also. We'll have to check it out."
"David has lived in a concentration camp for his whole life. He lived in a life of ugliness, where it was better not to think, where he'd only seen color once. A man gives him a chance to escape and David takes it. He crosses Europe, realizing that he knows almost nothing about normal life. How can he blend in if he doesn't even know how to smile? Does he even want to live? A story about people and relationships, seen from the perspective of a thoughtful young boy."
"I L-O-V-E this book. It was really descriptive in such a way that I could feel/taste/smell everything and it was so...I don't know how to say it...deep. Like I can remember it so vividly like I was there. The ending was beautiful. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone. It's amazing."
