"A fantastic read. Clearly outlines the myriad of ways people learn and how to capitalize on the way your child learns. I'd suggest this for teachers and any parent wanting to know how to bring out the best in their child."
"This book taught me how to be a more effective teacher. By identifying how my children learn, I can understand why they struggle in some areas and not worry so much about what they can't do. Instead I can focus on how to teach them in a way they understand and I was also able to identify my own learning style. I highly recommend this to any parent."
"Profound. Provocative. I love this book. I believe that everyone should read this book to better understand how they learn and process information. Should you have children, it will help you help them learn. Markova (finally) acknowledges that we don't all learn the same way, but that there are 3 main channels for processing information: visual (V), auditory (A), and kinisthetic (K). For example you might be a KVA learner, meaning that you learn best by doing but are easily distracted by sounds.
I discovered this book when I was doing research in art therapy and it completely changed my path, my research and my future masters thesis. I wish this information, this thought process, had been more mainstream when I was in school. Or rather, that I had known this information about myself. It leads me to question all the HUGE number of kids that are being diagnosed with learning disabilities (and thus, medicated)...making me wonder if they just learn differently then how they are being taught?
