About this title: The blood feud between Duke Leto of Caladon and Baron Vladimir Harkonnen reaches its climax, as the emperor Shaddam - leader of House Corrino - is finally forced to curb the powerful Harkonnens or risk losing his own throne. Menawhile, Duke Leto's beautiful concubie, the Bene Gesserit temptress Jessica,- has conceived the boy who become Paul Atreides (the hero of Dune), defying the express orders of her superiors. The book culminates in a war - on Dune, on the oppressed planet Ix, in space - that will alter the balance of power for a generation.

"Always reminded me of "The Who" lyrics that had a line 'the new boss, same as the old boss'. Great Sci-fi adventure but the end of the last book left me flat, thinking, what was the point in rooting for these guys all this time?"
"I aplaud the mammoth efforts Frank Herbert's son has done along with Kevin Anderson to keep the Dune spirit alive and true to his father's vision. These pre-quels are based on notes that Herbert made before his death. Herbert and Anderson have a very different writing voice than F. Herbert so you have to enter the books with an open mind- the writing is not as subtle and more sensational- there is more emphasis on action and less of the political/religious/spiritual nuances in Herberts original series. However, they are great fun to read in terms of fleshing out the Dune universe."
"House Corrino is a great end to this trilogy. As in the originals Brian and Kevin have written a story that has plans within plans, stories within stories that would make Frank proud. It concludes the ongoing stories masterfully and helps explain some of the tensions and relations we see in Franks stories."
