"Quote books are always fun, but this one has especially witty and fun quotations from people we've heard of and people we haven't.
One thing I noticed is the repetition of the quote by Nietzsche, "Plato is a bore." I'm only up to quote #139 and it's been repeated three times already. I've also noticed that this quote comes after each quote by Plato in the book. The author, Robert Byrne, probably meant for this to be a funny introduction to some inside joke, but it's really not, and the discovery of each subsequent Nietzsche quote is quite annoying.
Another annoying thing about this book is the author's inappropriate and self-important inclusion of some of the "wise and funny" things he's personally said. Some of his quotes are interesting/thought-provoking, but are they really some of the best things that have ever been said?
Finally, the quotes in this book (perhaps there are newer versions) are not separated into topic sections, which makes it extremely difficult to reference or to find something without some inconvenience."
"So I admit that I have a problem, I like quotes. This book served as an enabler to my problem because it is chalk full of quotes. But not just any quotes. Most, if not all, of the quotes are witty, rude and downright hilarious. The quotes span just about every facet of human existence: love, sex, death, life, children, food, women, men, music, stupidity (and almost anything else you can come up with) etc. There's a little bit of something for everyone!"
