"Here is a good collection of English language haiku and senryu brought together by Cor van den Heuvel. The introduction provides some attitude in the discussion of what haiku is and is not. That aside, the collection is valuable and has some gems buried within it. However, there were many that seemed to be almost formulaic and perhaps could have been left out. However, it is an anthology. There is also an interesting bibliography and biographical notes section for anyone interested in looking deeper into this genre.
Now, I want to share three entries that I especially liked.
One that I found especially pointed for me as the company I work for goes through an acquisition and reorganization is by Garry Gay:
Old retriever; He opens one eye At the tossed stick
Another that I want to remember and share is by Karen Sohne and talks to the every day personal battles of travel:
the men on both sides have taken my armrests
And finally the anthology ends with one by Arizona Zipper that I love to turn around and around in my mind:
