Anita is an animator, that is, she can raise people from the dead, into zombies. She doesn't actually do much of that in this book, since she's asked by the master vampire of St. Louis to solve some vampire murders. She's also pretty well known in the vampire world as a vampire hunter, so that makes things interesting! She gets in lots of trouble, meets some really interesting characters along the way, and pretty much kicks some ass!
My main issue with the book, was that I kept wondering if it was really the first in the series or if I had somehow gotten confused and picked up in the middle of it. Anita would run into someone, and then there would be a back-story that seemed like maybe it came from another book in the series? It was pretty important info...but, all of this was well explained and I enjoyed it.
I won't be seeking out and devouring these like I have with some series, but I see them a lot at my favorite used book warehouse, so I'll pick them up along the way for an interesting, entertaining and easy read."
