About this title: Originally a grenadier was a soldier who threw a grenade. The grenadier formed part of most European armies from the late 17th Century onwards. Grenadier companies, composed existed in all British Infantry Battalions. Later grenadiers in Infantry battalions were the senior, right flank companies, composed of the tallest men.
