"Probably 2 1/2 stars, I liked ok, but I really just read because I had nothing else to read. It basically is the story of the wives of some Air Force men who live on a base together. Then as they grow up and go their separate ways we see how they change and are still friends. It reads like a history - no real plot or climatic moments.
Interesting in the slang and culture differences of the 50's."
"What did it mean to be a homemaker in the fifties? What does it mean now? A quick read. Felt very true to this reader who spent a little time in the fifties herself. Recommended."
"I picked up this book because Richard Russo recommended it.
This book was fantastic. My mom followd my dad during the war, while he was in training, so some of the stories reminded me of her tales. I was shocked when I found out Laurie Graham was English. I have order anothe of her books from the library.
The recipies were priceless. An added extra to a wonderful book."
