"some writing quirks when describing emotions (e.g. He gave me sullen.) but enjoyable and well thought out. the main character gets saved a lot by his friends which I enjoyed-- a protagonist who knows he can't do it all on his own."
"The mafia in LA and New York, Asian organized crime, and now the black gangs in South Central. These guys do get around and are building quite a body count. But good guys can do that, right? I don't know why, but this series is just plain fun for me. I like Crais' style and how he almost makes the totally unrealistic sound plausible. A fun way to pass the time and keep me away from TV."
"Good, like all the Elvis Cole mysteries are. Very dark in places, as most of these mysteries are, as well. Sudden violence, questionable amount of hope for the future of many good people. So while I really liked it, i'm going to have to wait a little while before picking up the next one. Similar to the Lehane mysteries that way (tho probably a little less dark than those)."
