"What is with the global-warming denial? Granted, this was written over 10 years ago, but I had already been reading about global warming in the early 80's at college. Sad, sad, sad. Does anyone know if these authors have come around?"
"I liked these writers other books far better than this it left me...."cold". Ya I now ice age humor.
Thr PC sounding story line annoyed me a lot. I have to live day to day political prejudices, if I want them in a book I'll read a non-fiction, or something with a little more depth. This fell right in the moddle and pretentions of political wisdom didn't sit well with me.
You may feel different. As for me, I'll go with one of their other books if I chose to read something by Nivan and Pournelle.
By the way I'm politically conservative. So far as I can see the whole global warming thing is mostly a lot of....hot air (sorry I couldn't resist). But I don't want to read a novel where I've got to go over it again.
I appricate that a lot liked this book and it's probably better than I felt it to be. I'm just tired and am looking for something to one side or the other of this book's place. Either more openly thoughtful about it's subject or light and not taking itself seriously at all. I include this to be fair to the book. Who knows I may return to it later."
"My main beef with this book is that the ending is very predictable. Other than that, I really enjoyed the premise of the book. I really enjoyed the tweaking of politically correct noses."
