"Existentialism is an idealistic philosophy that is quickly losing any stronghold in any political or modern agenda. For its time, it was thought provoking. This is a series of writings that cover this idealistic social and personal thought that eventually came under some scrutiny. It's interesting, however to view the philosophy and dawdle in the fantasy of existentialism being even a possibility. The works are a victory for it but real life has other plans. Not a bad read."
"Everybody has read Kafmann's Portable Nietzsche and this is one of the best introductions to Existentialism. However, Kaufmann's rendering of Sartre's concept of "bad faith" as "self deception" doesn't quite capture what Sartre was getting at."
"A fantastic collection of amazing existentialist thought.Includes Camus' Myth of Sisyphus, Dostoevsky's Notes form the underground and Sartre's The Wall. A small book, easily read, and always referenced. "To be conscious of another is to be conscious of what one is not" ~Sartre."
"Great collection of literature from some of the most influential writers and thinkers of our time. The author does a great job helping you to grasp a better understanding of what existentialism means to each writer and thinker, instead of attempting to define it. For as this book helps you understand, existentialism is very much a fluid term to which no "one and only" label will ever stick."
