"The second book deals with Drizzt's life after he fled the city of his birth. It focuses very much on the individuals of the story, including Drizzt's new traveling companions - all interesting characters in their own right. It also kinda of answers the question of why Drizzt has a primal side to his nature and the plot gives him his very first answers to many of the questions that have confused him."
"In this book Drizzt has run away from home and is living in the Wilds, which is still in the undergraound world of these Dark Elves. In this book, we meet up with someone from his past. And a creature that has been transformed into something very vicious. While he is making friends, his transformed friend seems to be doomed from the beginning. R.A. Salvatore makes you really feel for this doomed character as he is one of the very few close friends that Drizzt has. Drizzt also runs into some really nasty foes in this edition of the story and ends it in a very satisfying way after he is captured. And there is a comical method that his doomed friend uses to escape from captivity. When he reaches the surface world, he finds that it is a little cooler than it is way underground where he has spent the better part of 40 years and is quite uncomfortable with the sun, which seems to dispell the magic from his garments and weapons. Where will this go., I think I will enjoy this ride very much."
"This book is quite hard to understand if you just randomly pick it up at a bookstore/library, so I can understand why some people said that this book was completely trash. On the other hand, if you have read the "Icewind Dale Trilogy" and Homeland and still say that this book is worthless then you deserve a slap to the face, your face.
Exile is much more well rounded than Homeland, partially because it's no longer about Menzoberranzan and the drow soceity. It's quite action pacted for those of you who loves fighting scenes.
"This book continues Drizzt's amazing story. Very good! One thing I love about the series is Drizzt's periodical bouts into first person. All the novels are in 3rd person but before each part(Each book is seperated into 5 parts) he talks in 1st person about his inner thoughts of the world. Those are part of what make the books great!"
