"It really is a funny book, and makes a good point :-) This is great for potty training, so kids know how normal this body function is, and it shows the proper way for humans, using a toilet. And the end page is just too funny, bringing home the book title."
"I have a 3-yr-old who is pretty insistent that he not use the toilet. He can. He has on occasion. He just prefers his diaper. He says things like, "No thanks. I'll just go in my diaper."
When I saw this at the library today I thought, "maybe it will inspire him to use the toilet." He thought it was so funny that there is a book about poop. We laughed for a long time about the poop book. But then we read it.
He sat there quietly and then when his 5-yr-old brother asked for me to read it again the 3-yr-old jumped off my lap and ran out of the room as fast as he could. I had to promise not to read it again in order to get him to come back. He is seriously freaked out by this book.
The 5-yr-old thought it was great. I thought it was funny/gross. It's very matter-of-fact and yes, there are pictures of poop, thankfully they are illustrations instead of photos. The child in the book is male and yes, the parts are shown. So is the poop coming out of the child into the toilet. I'm thinking you probably don't want to read this one around the dinner table.
This might work for a potty-training child. Just not mine. You could also use it during your study of the digestive system for younger kids."
"It was there at the pediatricians office, Katelyn was two and a half. It started the 'everything poops' game. "Do cars poop, mommy? Do stores poop? Does grass poop?" Such a cute book. Why it was in the self-help section, I do not know. I suppose the information IS helpful."
"I know, I know, another poop book. This one was also recommended by our pediatrician. This would be a good one for young potty-trainers. In some of the reviews I read people were so offended that it said silly things like "a two-hump camel makes a two-hump poop". To them, I say loosen up a little (no pun intended)! Don't we all need a little potty humor every now-and-then?"
