"Very interesting book about the first American's to climb Everest. Language was a little stilted, perhaps from the time period it was written. Despite that, there are a number of memorable scenes and descriptions throughout."
"Everest, The West Ridge by Thomas Hornbein is a wonderful book written about a great adventure. I had the privilige of meeting the author in 1996 on a birding trek and he gave us a great lecture about the climb. Recently, my great-niece and her husband took a last vacation for a while (She is starting an internship in Ob/Gyn) after many lean years of school. They took a trek to Base Camp at Everest and we thought this book would be a wonderful graduation present. We had previously read the book and knew it is a great book with excellent photographs."
