About this title: This immensely popular, lushly romantic epic tale of an orphaned girl who rises from rags to riches is one of Allende's richest fantasies, reinforcing her reputation as one of Latin America's best storytellers and a celebrated writer in both the feminist and magical-realist traditions.

"I picked this up a few weeks ago as a treat for when I finished my magical realism paper, and I just finished it this morning. Though not as convoluted and detailed as The House of the Spirits, Eva's a great heroine and reminds me a great deal of Alba. Her life is bizarre and never stops being interesting, and Allende writes relationships with such a delicate touch that it's impossible to believe that these people aren't real."
"This is the second book I have read by Isabel Allende and it is addicting. I got this from the library when I was returning a book. Her style of writing is great and to my liking. In The House of the Spirits, the book is really detailed and engaging. It is the same with this book! The main character of this book, Eva Luna, faces many problems when she is young at age. She continues to face many conflicts as she grows up but that is what makes it more interesting. To see all of the adventures and problems she goes through is another important aspect of this book. I definitely recommend this book who enjoys reading Isabel Allende's books or is just interested in adventurous books."
