About this title: In this study, Professor Miller asserts that both Einstein and Picasso were influenced by mathematician and philosopher Henri Poincare's LA SCIENCE ET L'HYPOTHESE. Although the two intellectuals never met, Miller reasons that the painter and physicist were working simultaneously, using different mediums, to solve the same problem about representing space and time.

"A way to continue my understanding of the greatest artist of the 20th century. The book deals with the desire to break the world apart in order to develop a new way to look at it. Picasso and Einstein approached similar ideas through different means. Einstein introduced new scientific concepts such a relativity while Picasso changed the way we saw the world through cubism. I remember reading that Picasso never felt he changed the form of an object but the way we look at it (beyond the accepted forms produced by perspective by providing several ways to look at one object at the same time). An excellent book about the similarties between two great minds and the connection between science and art through the geometrization of space and perception."
"A book I wish I'd written: This book manages to be entertaining as well as educational, deftly crossing the divide between art and physics to show the principles and creativity that undergird both fields."
