"This book brought to light how, many times, God uses something that is a tragedy to bring about amazing things. He doesn't always cause them, but he can use them for His greater good. Sometimes, he changes the tragedy and other times we have to pay for the consequences of our actions, but ultimately He is in control.
I loved this book. It had some sad moments, but I loved how everything ends and I can't wait to read the final book that finishes the story of another character from the first book."
"Really liked this book. I love Francine's style of writing! If you like historical fiction, you would probably like this. It takes place 40 years after Christ lived. It protrays what life was like in Rome and how it was for Christians. It has an excellent story, and plot. The third book will follow a character introduced in the 1st book. I liked that one story "ends", but there is more to the plot that plays out in the last book. It made it so it wasn't dragged out, which I was somewhat worried about after learning there was a third book."
"Francine Rivers is my favorite Christian author. I have put off reading this series, however, because of the horrors of the time period and because it is more of a romance novel, which is not my favorite genre. It's been about a year since I read the first in the series but the story-line came back to me quickly and I thoroughly enjoyed reading book 2."
