About this title: This book looks at the shamanic world to seek explanations for the healing and psychic powers displayed by shamans, in terms of quantum physics. Fred Alan Wolf is a physicist and popularizer of the New Science and author of "Taking the Quantum Leap" which won the American Book Award for Science in 1982. Throughout the remotest corners of the old and new worlds, the author visited shamans from many different traditions, recording their conversations and distilling from these experiences a vision of human potential.

"This well written book takes you on the adventure of a quantum physicist into the traditional shamanic drug of South American practitioners - ayuhuasca, the plant medicine.
Dr. Wolf has several hypotheses he wants to see if the shamans of South American (and a few North American ones) are working with the quantum field.
As he looks for these answers, he is taken on his own journey of initiation and healing.
Nicely written, easily absorbed concepts.
Not too spooky for those who are not aware of shamanic practices since it comes through a scientist's life experience.
"If you are like me and love Quantum Physics, the mysteries of the shamanic world, and a fan of Fred Alan Wolf's writing, you will love this book. In this book The Eagles Quest, Mr. Wolf takes you on the ground floor (where we all live) and lifts you up to the spiritual plateaus of common/un-common experiences of the most altered of states. Now it did remind me of the 60's and Carlos Castaneda. But as you read on you get this dab of science wrapped up in the lives of people that Fred knows and knew back when. Some of the stuff in this book made me scared. Oh yea. Quantum Physics and the un-seen world of spirit(s) makes one wonder am I a **live** human being or am I one day going to wake up. Now I have to re-think my whole outlook on stuff like is the here and now - here and now!! I have read a lot of Fred's books he is my favorite of them all, that is physics majors who reminds me of a zen person who knows what is down the rabbits whole in Alice in Wonderland. He's a scientist and all of a sudden **Wham** he no longer knows what, when, or where, but he does have it figured out. Maybe. He then leaves his job goes to India and begins to look for answers that might explain his total mystical experience. What does he look for on this journey? The mystery of healing, non-local communication, non-local healing, altered states of consciousness that leads to higher levels of "knowing". It all reminded me of the Apostle Paul when he said, "I knew a man caught up into the third heaven, whether in the body or out I could not tell". Well I can't either. I think Fred might have the best clue. But as for me I am still looking through the looking glass. Ayin"
"I'm about 10 years late in reading this book which has been on my bookself all that time. But I think Wolf has pretty well nailed the physics behind shamanic experience."
