Description: Color Illustrations. Fine in Near Fine jacket. From School Library Journal Grade 1-3? More calculated and savvy stupid stuff, this fourth story continues in the same vein as the previous three titles. The Bunny family goes to the zoo, mistakes a butterfly resting on the lion sign for a real lion, panics and lets all of the animals out of their cages before finally being encouraged to leave. It isn't the story, though, that draws the laughs. It's Pilkey's wacky cartoon art done in watercolors, ... read more
"They're dumb. They're bunnies. At the zoo. What is there not to love?
My kids have all taken a turn with this one. Perennial favorite. Time for my last little human to give it a whirl. I'm sure he'll love it too. It is also a really sneaky way to teach your kids about order and the incongruity theory of humor. So, educational too- ++!"
"I never really liked these kinds of books when I was a child. The silly humor just felt too silly, too dumb. And I think our oldest felt the same way; she seemed to get angry at the bunnies for making the silly mistakes.
I figured we could read it for comic relief, but I doubt I'll read too many stories like this again; or at least, not on purpose."
"This is the only book that my boys actually begged me to buy for them! I ended up getting the whole collection of Dumb Bunny books. These books hit that weird/gross kid-humor right on the head. For example, Baby Bunny names his new pet "kitties" Pee-pee and Wee-wee. My kids would laugh so hard at that part they would actually start crying and gasping for air! Out of all four books, this one is still the favorite."
