Light edgewear to wraps, age toning. The Swiss artist Itten, along with his colleagues at the pre-war Bauhaus in Weimar Germany (Klee, Kandinsky, Moholy-Nagy, Albers, Mies van der Rohe), was as one of the leading pedagogues associated with the modern art movement. The Bauhaus was closed by the Nazis and this book is a recapitulation of his famous course. CONTENTS: Chiaroscuro; The theory of colors; Materials and texture studies; The theory and practice of forms; Rhythm; Expressive forms; Subjective forms.
I found this book and similar ones from the Bauhaus era, facinating as whether we like it or not it has influenced world architecture, modern attitudes to design, fashion and style and even to teadching. It is not a great book in the sense of life changing but is great from the point of view of putting things in context.......the contemporary design world was not created yesterday, it goes bacjk a long way.
